Kicking back At Star ship Hospital

When it was guy fawkes night my sister and I went to the park next to The Hospital once we were on our way there we heard fireworks already but once we arrived there, there were lots of people doing fireworks there and it was amazing. But this man was holding a firework blasting it out into the air and then he accidently dropped the firework and he and his children started running away so they couldn’t get shot from the firework, then the firework was shooting near where me and my sister was and we got up and hid behind the tree then so on the firework went blasting everywhere haha. Farr that was wicked tbh and then sooner or later These other people were doing there fireworks too and there one was cool as. Sooner or later my sister and I went for a walk playing the speaker next thing you know we went back to the hospital.

For the past five days straight I have been in hospital because I was sick. It was very boring there because I just stayed in bed like alday and watch T.V. not only i stayed there with myself, I stayed there with my sister. She’s like basically my best friend because she's always giving me company and entertains me. One time when I was hungry because the hospital food is sometimes yuck and I just ringed my mum and I asked her “Mum, can you buy me a feed?” Next thing you notice She comes walking in with some Takeaways a few minutes later. But I wasn’t allowed to eat because I had to have a operation. Once I woke up I had this bandage on my head and it was very disturbing and hard to see because it was wrapped all around my head. A few minutes later after I had my operation I was on the munchies and ate the takeaways.

Umm what else did I do?? ohh yeah my sister and I was watching this boring as movie but it was called ummm “How to build a better boy” but it was better than nothing aye. I really wanted to change the channel but my sister was really curious and wanted to watch it but it looked gay on its trailer. But it was kinda interesting how she created that boy with some soldier machine.

Rewritten narrative of "Why do I blush?"

Princess Ofa commented, “These reactions are signs your body is getting ready to …”
Queen Melelose added quickly, “either fight or run away from a situation.”
Prince Raniera was listening in and advised, “This is how our ancestors often reacted a long time ago.”
Kolotina, the butler exclaimed, “ That’s true, your Majesty, for example when they came face to face with a large woolly mammoth!”
Mikayla, the servant walked in with a bucket of ice and agreed, “this can help you cool down from your fight or flight reaction.”
Prince Raniera interrupted the conversation and explained, “Your blood carries your body’s extra heat into tiny vessels called capillaries.”
While the maid was cleaning she overheard the conversation in the royal room and wanted to join in this academic discussion. She mumbled shyly, “Because blood is red and the capillaries in your face are very near the surface of your skin, this heat-release this heat makes your face appear red, too.”
The royal family were in shock of her knowledge and intelligence and were absolutely speechless.

The reason why we had to rewrite this text is because we are learning to anylize the different text types.

Man Cross Country Is Hard

Preview Image

Students exhausted, teachers shrieking but they are so tired that they dawdle most of the way.

The senior students started to practise cross country around the senior block. We first started off with the seniors lining up  and the year 4s did this too. We waited for Mrs. Ginders or Mr. Reid to say “Go.” Once Mrs. Ginders or Mr. Reid said “Go!” we start running. The students ran hard until a couple minutes later they were as slow as a sloth because they were exhausted.

We ran for at least 10 minutes so we could make it to the interschool. I tried my hardest and used my strength to not walk because sometimes I walk all the time when I get use to it. I past teachers or relievers and they sometimes say to me “Go Raniera” or “There goes the best runner." But I want cross country to stop because I am getting sick and tired of RUNNING!! I hate it when I run by myself because I wanna talk so I slow down for some of the boys and start talking to them.

Lastly Mr. Reid will pick a couple of people from each classroom who try their best in running. Those students will go to the Cross Country Interschool and I will wish them nothing. Ha

T3 W9 Maths Squares and Cubes

On Friday, Room 12 was physically making squares and cubes of numbers out of unilink blocks by doing 2 by 2, 3 factors of 4 and even more. It was pretty easy, but I had to count in my head the total number of blocks to make a cube of a number and that was the hardest thing about it.
Then Mrs Golder made us make harder squares and cubes of numbers like 6x6x6, each group had to join each other's unilink blocks. The first group who did the 6-cubed was the group next to us and then we joined up with them and that's how we made larger squares and cubes.IMG_3280 me.jpg

T3 W9 My Origami

The Origami that I made myself was a winged heart. The reason why I made a winged heart was because I thought it would be like challenging to me. It took 20 minutes to make it because I had to pause and play the video while I was making the origami. I almost finished the origami and it looked perfect but I still needed a couple more steps to go. Finally I was so happy.

Who knows what was on Friday the 28th of Agust??? well obviously it was Daffodil Day.

My daffodil is very unique to the Room 12’s daffodils. People are impressed how my daffodil is and looks like. It took me  30 minutes just to make one daffodil out of paper. The first one I ripped it then I made a another one. My friend, Simon made me a stalk because I was too busy.

In Other Words

In Other Words
Long ago where time stood still was a poem. The poem told us a way that people used to live. These people were called “Strugglers who lived their lives as shocking as a fish leaping out of deep water. They spoke with sharp tongues that hit you like a light stabbing through a row of trees. They prayed to their gods boldly by opening up their eyes during prayer time.

One Struggler said to the other one “Stop snoring you noisy cow you’re keeping me awake in the middle of the night, you're torturing my ears. GO SLEEP IN THE BUSH!!”
“Every minute of everyday of my every life has been a nightmare when you snore.” The Struggler banished him to the library in the bush.
So the Struggler lived happily ever after.     zzzzzzzz

In Other Words (This is the original poem)

A poem is a way
of knowing you are alive

As shocking as a fish
leaping out of deep water

As sharp as light stabbing
through a row of trees

As bold as opening up
your eyes during prayer

As simple as lying awake
in the middle of the night
listening to the sound
of people

Every minute
of every day
of every life

is a full library

Preventing Eletric Injuries

Electrical injuries can happen at anytime but electrical injuries can happen at home and at school. When teachers or Mothers say “Don’t play with the cable!” to children, THEN CHILDREN SHOULD LISTEN!

People have been killed playing with electrical devices and have been admitted to hospitals for burns caused by touching wired fences, live wires, cords and even tipping water on playstation and many more things.

Now, scientist should be doing something about this by making electrical appliances more safer.

Electrical equipments that can cause injuries are:

  • Toaster
  • Washing Machine
  • socket
  • light bulb
  • water and machine
  • electrical pens
  • playstation
  • overheated laptop
  • projector
  • chromebook
  • lightning
  • fire

   Injuries:

  • electrical shocks
  • blindness
  • burns
  • scalding
  • death

These are some reasons “why”  children should not and do not play with machines or electrical equipment.

T2 W5 Preventing illness

An illness is a sickness that affects the mind (mental illness) and the body (physical illness) due to your immune system breaking down.

Some of the “physical illnesses”  include coughing, sneezing, having the flu and many more but notice that it also makes many people sad, angry and frightened. Plus lots of doctor are trying to look for treatment to treat these illnesses.

Hokule'a Landing

It was a long day...

Firstly we started getting everyone together in lines. A few more minutes later the teachers did a speech saying “ When you walk, walk sensibly,  When we walk, walk together and be safe.”

Once we arrived near Point England we started to see other schools like Panmure Bridge, Glen Innes and many more schools.

I never knew that colleges and a heap more schools would come. All of a sudden we had to stop. At some point we realized that other schools were going first to the beach. That’s why we stopped.

Afterwards we finally arrived at the beach and we sat where our sign had the name of our school. Once we sat down I sensibly asked my teacher if I could take photos. Ten minutes later the boat that all the schools saw was moving back and forwards for some reason.

Finally the Hawaiians came and all the schools started to do the haka. But it was kind of weird because some schools were singing the song too late and some too early. After the Haka was finished some old man did a speech for them and they did one for us. Man, we had to sit for hours but I was too busy taking photos of the schools and people doing the haka.

Lastly we finished with a karakia and all the schools had to Hi-5 the Hawaiians and off we went back to school.

ST Kents Day!

Having Fun At St Kents…
13.03.15

Once the bus arrived at Ruapotaka School, the senior syndicate were divided into groups for the St Kents day! A few minutes later we arrived at St Kents in the bus and we were welcomed with a speech from some lady. As soon as the lady finished her welcome speech we had to follow our leader to the basketball court.

First of all the leader for our group introduced himself and asked all of us our names. Soon we had to warm up for the Volleyball lessons. For our Volleyball lessons we practised strike, block and that's all I could remember. When we finished the lessons we played Volleyball! Far out, the Volleyball game was amazing!

When we had free time, the leader of our group asked us, "What else do you want to play?" Most of us volunteered to play soccer then we helped him put the cones out there for the outlines and goals.

Then we were divided into groups and we named them. Our group was named EASTSIDE! and the other team was named GIRL POWER!

It was fun playing Volleyball.

The Deadliest Battle

25th April 1915

Dear Uncle Ben,

I have been chosen to defend the ANZAC defense force. Ok, we started with digging out the trenches. Digging out the trenches that were 6 x 5 feet in length and height from the ground but I had to be a man and dig! I felt very excited for tomorrow. Then I heard a gunshot. Then all the soldiers grabbed their AK-47, Snipers, and other guns but it was only one soldier named Benny who fired his gun during his sleep. Then the other soldiers went back to sleep when they realized he shot it while he was sleepwalking.
Once we woke up, I got up and stretched and had a run around and then we had breakfast with everyone. Guess what we had for breakfast? We had ANZAC biscuit which was so delicious with milk and that”s all we had but lucky there were tonnes of those. After all that had happened we all had to exercise.

Soon  after we saw all our guns and the tanks and the machine guns on the trucks to be used for next month when the battle begins. Everyone grabbed their guns and took it to the targets so we could practice and I shot a few targets but some missed which was good because we learnt from our mistakes.

Afterwards we went to the clothing place and we chose our own coat but I chose a medium sized one. They had  lots of pockets and it was dark green and light green. I took the coat to my trench and everybody had their own uniform coat for war and then we all went back to shooting targets.

Dear Diary,
I had a bad day because of my mum and dad. They always fight over money and  food and a heap more things!! I just hate them, well sometimes my dad. I want to live with another family. I need to. My mum and dad have anger management  problems over everything. Tonight I might go steal stash from the garage and go see if Jack will be at the carpark.

Well I like this house because Becca does my homework but I want my bed back! But the Sofa is pretty comfortable than my bed.  But that was my room you expect me to hand my room to you Becca! Tomorrow I might see dad at his place and play playstation all day and have dinner at KFC.

At school it’s boring. I have to do work all the time and you expect me to do that! Once I sneak out of school I want to see Jack at the car park so we can have Jim Beam. Now I think it’s time that I should live at my dad’s house so I can have my own room. Now I think I should finish my diary before it’s dinner time.
I’m feeling as hurtful as getting bullied.

Superb Self Management Award

Superb Self Management Award

At the syndicate assembly I received a Superb Self Management Award for showing discipline, controlling my behaviour and showing good behavior in front of the other students. The award was unlimited from Monday to Friday so you had to be good the whole week to earn that certificate. I worked so hard to get that award. I had to show excellence in  behaviour wherever I went. Well, because I was showing superb self discipline I was awarded a discipline award.

Who Am I?

Rendered Image

ABC.jpg
Kia ora, my name is Raniera, I am a student at Ruapotaka School  (year 8). In spare time I like listening to Hip Hop, R&B, remix and rapping music, and reading comic books at the library. In my family I have 6 brothers but two of my brothers passed away and 3 sisters.

The things I like to do is playing soccer which is my favorite sport, beating high scores on playstation, but I don’t really like playing XBOX because I get mixed up with the buttons. The things I like to watch are very exciting things like a flying motorbike or big graffiti  on the walls and cool fonts.
