The Deadliest Battle

25th April 1915

Dear Uncle Ben,

I have been chosen to defend the ANZAC defense force. Ok, we started with digging out the trenches. Digging out the trenches that were 6 x 5 feet in length and height from the ground but I had to be a man and dig! I felt very excited for tomorrow. Then I heard a gunshot. Then all the soldiers grabbed their AK-47, Snipers, and other guns but it was only one soldier named Benny who fired his gun during his sleep. Then the other soldiers went back to sleep when they realized he shot it while he was sleepwalking.
Once we woke up, I got up and stretched and had a run around and then we had breakfast with everyone. Guess what we had for breakfast? We had ANZAC biscuit which was so delicious with milk and that”s all we had but lucky there were tonnes of those. After all that had happened we all had to exercise.

Soon  after we saw all our guns and the tanks and the machine guns on the trucks to be used for next month when the battle begins. Everyone grabbed their guns and took it to the targets so we could practice and I shot a few targets but some missed which was good because we learnt from our mistakes.

Afterwards we went to the clothing place and we chose our own coat but I chose a medium sized one. They had  lots of pockets and it was dark green and light green. I took the coat to my trench and everybody had their own uniform coat for war and then we all went back to shooting targets.

From Daniel...
